Big cinema Berlin – in the wall calendar 2022: Kino Berlin we show illustrations for 12 Berlin cinemas.

A varied mix can be seen - the small neighborhood cinema Intimes with only 83 seats is there as well as the premiere cinema Zoo Palast. In addition, elegant buildings from the 1950s, Gründerzeit buildings and architectural icons such as the Kino International are illustrated.

January starts with the Schöneberg cinema Odeon with the cool neon lettering. The cinema, which opened in 1950, offers space for 359 visitors.

In the Berlinale month of February we are showing the Zoo Palast. The premiere cinema was built in 1956/1957 according to plans by the architects Paul Schwebes, Hans Schoszberger and Gerhard Fritsche.

The Eva Lichtspiele adorn the March calendar sheet. The film theater in the district of Wilmersdorf was opened in 1913 under the name Roland Lichtspiele.

The Delphi Filmpalast can be seen in April. It was built in 1927/28 as the Delphi Palais dance hall and converted into a cinema in 1949 by Walter Jonigkeit. He ran the cinema until his death at the age of 102 in 2009.

Also in the Weißensee district, which was known as “Little Hollywood” in the 1920s, there is – or was – a Delphi cinema. Today the silent film cinema built in 1929 is a cultural site. The scenes in the Moka Efti bar for the film Babylon Berlin were shot there.

A typical post-war Berlin cinema can be seen in June – the Columbia in the Tempelhof district. Today the former US Air Force cinema is used for concerts and events.

The Hackesche Höfe cinema was opened in 1996 on the top floor of the Hackesche Höfe in Berlin Mitte.

The Titania Palace, built in 1929 in the New Objectivity style, can be seen in the Steglitz district in August. The cinema was closed in 1966, narrowly escaping demolition, and was used for retail and offices until it was renovated in 1995. Today there is a shopping center and the cinema in the building.

The City Kino Wedding is located in the Center Français on Müllerstrasse, which was built in 1961. The listed building complex was planned by the Berlin architect Gerhard Laube on behalf of the French military government as a meeting place.

In October, the Intimate Cinema, which opened in 1909 under the name “Lichtspiele des Ostens”, can be seen. The small cinema in Friedrichshain only has 83 seats.

The Roxy Palace in Friedenau, built by Martin Punitzer in 1929, is illustrated in November. The building achieved notoriety in 1986 with the bombing of the disco La Belle that was inside. Today the listed building is used by a real estate association.

The year ends with the Kino International – the legendary cinema was built in 1963 by the architect Josef Kaiser and is now considered an icon of East Modernism.
